President Trump’s Dominant Town Hall Performance
President Trump’s CNN Town Hall appearance was his best performance in years. That’s not a knock on his recent rallies and speeches, he’s had plenty of great ones, but this performance brought back the fond memories we all have of that Trumpian swagger that made him unstoppable in 2016.
One of the main reasons: No teleprompter, just Trump being Trump. Also, Trump does exceptionally well facing off against a hostile foe on stage. He’s the unflappable warrior, who enjoys battling the humorless and corrupt Swamp. Some of his most memorable moments are from his debates with RINOs and his interviews and press conferences with the Fake News Media.
Richard Hanania discussed in a recent piece why Trump succeeds in this arena while other politicians do not.
At a gut level, people understand that part of the reason DeSantis won’t talk to the media is that he’s afraid of them, while pretending that he’s standing on some kind of principle. We all know that if DeSantis goes on CNN, he might be forced into a gaffe, or his voice might crack at the wrong time in response to a hostile question. Does the term “gaffe” even have any meaning in relation to things Trump says? Can you imagine his voice cracking under any circumstance? And it’s not just Trump’s voice. Observe how little his facial expression changes when a hostile reporter lands a blow, and compare it to other politicians. Some men worry about saying the wrong thing when talking to a woman, but the higher status male is the guy who can say whatever he wants. This is the difference between DeSantis and Trump.
Not going to beat up on DeSantis here, but there just is something truly different about the way these two men handle the pressure of this arena.
Returning to the CNN Town Hall, we encourage you to watch the full thing and take note of Trump’s reactions to the hostile “moderator” and the crowd’s reactions to his answers.

Trump On The War In Ukraine
The best answer of the night.
COLLINS: Do you want Ukraine to win this war?
TRUMP: I don’t think in terms of winning and losing. I think in terms of getting it settled so we stop killing all these people and breaking down–
COLLINS: What do you – can I just follow up on that? You said you don’t think in terms–
TRUMP: But one of the things you have to do–
COLLINS: – of winning and losing–
TRUMP: – you have to get the – you have to get Europe–
COLLINS: Mr. President, can I just follow up on that? Because that’s a really important statement that you just made there.
TRUMP: Excuse me, let me just follow up.
COLLINS: Can you say if you want Ukraine or Russia to win this war?
TRUMP: I want everybody to stop dying. They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying.
Almost every politician in Washington would reflexively answer this question with something along the lines, “of course I support Ukraine!” But Trump’s answer was so much better. He didn’t allow himself to be forced to give the answer the Swamp wanted to hear. He gave an honest answer, an answer that reminded America why he was and is the Anti-War candidate.
While the Swamp is hyper focused on escalating the war in Ukraine, Trump and the American people want this war to quickly come to a peaceful end, and America’s focus to return to fixing our own problems.
While Trump had many great (and often hilarious) moments that night, that moment was definitely our favorite.
But the entertainment didn’t stop after the Town Hall was over.

President Trump thrives in the arena. It may not be the safe play according to many DC politicos, but Trump was not built to play it safe. It’s not in his nature, and it’s one of main reasons people love him. He’s an outsider who wasn’t built by the political class. Let him do what he does best.
“A ship is safest in the harbor, but that’s not what a ship was built for.”
Let Trump be Trump.
